I've never used the Peleng but, have heard mixed reviews about it. Are you shooting full frame or crop? I'm currently using a Sigma on my 40D and am very happy with it.

ok, let's say money is no problem (just humour me). i have this canon 40D and i'm thinking to buy one canon 100-400mm.will you consider buying this lens or the canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS plus the 2x extender? is it worth it ? which extender is the best in this case? i know about the loss of light when using extenders but still...isthe combinationbetter than the 100-400mm or not?

    than you

Sorry, I can't help you with the Peleng questions.

Regarding the telephoto zoom, I would much rather have the 100-400 if I was going to be shooting in the 201-400mm range any significant amount of time. The image quality will better. The 70-200 f/2.8 L IS will of course be better in low light situations (without the extender of course). I'd go with the Canon 2x if you select this option.
