Do you like day trading the stock market? It takes similar guess work.

Considering it has dropped over $500 from its original price, I think it is close to the bottom. If Canon was just clearing the supply chain of 5D's with this event, at some point the price will probably pop back up.

In past years, Canon ran sales before the holidays. The price always seemed to go back up after the first of the year. Any guess you make is speculation, thinking it will get even cheaper might be a hallucination.

What about Mark III? Do you see it coming on to shelves in the next 6 months?

Yes, if one does really exist now it will be on the shelves in 6 months.

However, the shelf it may be on will be at Canon's research and development lab.

I can absolutely guarantee that we'll see a 5DIII hit the shelves before we see a 5DIV.

I doubt we'll see it before late 2012.

I bought 24-105 three months back for $1100 , but B & H is selling the kit 5D with 24-105 for 2800, which means the camera is 1700. I would have got the 5D for 1700 if I would have waiting just 2 months. Shame on me

Or it means the lens is $800, which is generally how it's viewed. That's why you can pick up 'white box' versions (brand new, separated from a kit) of the 24-105mm for $900 or less. The best time to buy a 24-105mm (or any kit lens) is as part of the kit. Personally, I bought a used 24-105mm for $800, then when I bought a 5DII, I bought the kit, kept the new 24-105mm (which cost me an $800 premium over the body, just like now), and slod the used one for the exact same $800 that I paid.

I would have accepted your theory if there is any deal on the 24-105 lens, but if you see, the price of the lens is rock solid and hardly any change and the cost of the 5d II is going down day by day.

Are you sure? After all, there was a time I thought we'd see a 1DIX before a 1DX.

Right. A few weeks ago, the body was $2500 and the kit was $3300 - meaning the lens added $800. Today, the body is $2000 and the kit is $2800, so the lens still adds $800.

Perhaps it's semantics, but to me, that indicates that when you buy the lens with the body, you're getting a discount of $300 on the lens. It's the same with other 'kit' lenses (18-55mm, 18-135mm, 28-135mm, etc.).
