The focus issue, I don't know what to say..

The lens issue, it sounds like Chromatic Abberation. You can try Av mode, and stop down the Aperture value to a higher f number.

Join the club. I find it difficult to manually focus with the 350D as well. The design of modern cameras is not optimized for it.

I'm not sure what you're saying here, exactly.

Yes, Katz Eye Optics will set you up for 100-200 USD:
<span style="font-size: small;"]Transit moment of sunset and darkness time I got some picture background is<span> blue coloured.
That sounds like a white balance problem. I suggest reading up on how to set a custom white balance with a gray card/white card or any neutral object.

I don't think the 350D has an f/2.8 cross-type autofocus sensor, so the f-number wont help in that regard.

    Daniel,

Thanks for that link to Katz Eye Optics. I had no idea that someone had created a replacement focusing screen for DSLRs that would take you back to a split-prism focusing ability. Have you or anyone else here used the product and could anyone comment on the product? I was aware that Canon offer's some replacement screens, but it would appear that these folks have taken it to a new and greater level. I also saw that they are offering a 10% Spring discount on their products right now.
