    EOS 5D Mk II - what's up !

My 5D Mk II just let me down today while I'm on vacation!!
Suddenly most of the electronic doesn't work any longer.
The fllwg buttons are not responding and are out of order:
    - Menu
    - Picture style
    - Info
    - Preview
    - Delete
    - Wb
    - Af Drive
    - Iso
    - Af On
    - *
    - Af point selection
    - Live-view
When I do turn on the camera the automatic sensor cleaning procedure doesn't work either but when I turn it off it does. Everythings seem to be messed up!
Does anyone has encountered same issues sometimes??
    Thank u.

While on vacation....did your camera come in contact with any water? If not, have you tried taking the battery out, charging it fully, and re-inserting it?

No it didn't get in contact with water at all.
Batteries are ok. I did put in those for the 7D either but it did not improve at all.

I think a Canon Service Center may be your best bet...

Dumb question, Are you sure the power switch was all the way on and not just in the on position? I do not mean to insult your intelligence but I did this when I first got my 5D.

Try doing a full camera reset. I've had some stuck functions that a full reset cured. You should try this before sending it in. As someone noted, remove and replace the button battery as well, (this is not the main battery).

I bought the 3 yr extended warranty with mine for $100. That has so far kept it from failing.

Yes, it does prevent failure for 3 years, but it *guarantees* it will fail at 3 years and 1 day. []
