Bokelicious, took a gamble and bought the Sigma 85mm 1.4, what do you think?

Greetings to all, thought I would roll the dice and today I picked up the Sigma 85mm, no post processing all hand held and wide open.

Except the last few taken after sunset, with ISO 1600 and a few other variations for your perusal.

Beautiful ex-supermodel, that puts up with me and my obsessions.(that ain't no model that's my long suffering wife)

    F1.4 1/1600 ISO100

Metal monkey a bit over exposed but creamy background.

These two were included just to show the bokeh, the thin little flower and the metal brolga are about a 3 feet from each other.

    Now a different slant F5.6 1/320 ISO100

    And finally F1.4 1/80 ISO1600

All hand held walking around my garden, a couple of hours after buying the lens. The one just above is in there just to show ISO 1600 on the 7D.

The 85mm is a handfull, looks impressive, the AF is a little noisy. The AF is faster than an 85 1.2, but slower than the 50 1.2. Cost in Australia is about $1050 as opposed to $2400 for the 1.2.

Bit of a learning curve with this lens, but I'm on a steep learning curve myself.

    Hope you enjoyed,

    Regards,

They look pretty darn good to me. The bokeh is quite pleasing to my eye. I've been curious to see how this lens performs. Can you post a couple somewhere where we can see the full-resolution samples?

G'day Sean, I'll have a go at posting on Flickr, but I've never done that before. Hope these links work.

Unfortunately you need a pro account to allow people to download full resolution images for viewing. However, I'll tell you how to get the images from flickr to appear here so you don't have to upload them to your TDP account:

    1) Pull up the image in flickr. Click the "Share This" button just above the image. Click on "Grab the HTML/BBCode" link.

    2) Make sure to pick either "Medium 500" or "Medium 640", and choose the "HTML" radio button. Copy the code.

    3) In your TDP Community reply, choose "Use Rich Formatting." A new window will appear. Click on the "HTML" button above the reply text box. An HTML code window will come up. Paste the flickr link code into that window, then click "Update."

    4) Voila!
