    70-200 f4L

i just picked up a 70-200 yesterday , but i have a couple questions. there is a min focus switch that says 3 meters or 1.3 (something like that) why change betweek the 2 ? why not just leave it on the lower distance setting ? also what are the numbers for in that little window ? none of my other lenses have that.

The focus limiter switch is useful if you're in dim light and you know you're shooting far away. If the camera is struggling to lock focus, it'll hunt across the whole focus range. If you eliminate the near field, you improve the time to achieve focus. The numbers in the window show you the approximate focus distance, and the numbers on the window give an approximation of the depth-of-field at different apertures.
