    7D - Possible to film at 1280x720 30 fps ?

    Hi everyone,

I just got myself a 7D to replace my aging XTi.

In a couple of weeks, there will be one 15 minutes or so fireworks display each week in my town, and I'd like to film each one of them with my new camera.

The only thing is : at 1280x720 60 fps, the recording might stop during the finale, as a 4-GB video file is about 15 minutes in length (too close for my liking to the display's length). Is it possible to film at the same resolution at 30 fps to slice the filesize in half ?

If not, my other option will be to use 640x480, which is far from the HD quality I have from this camera. Hell, my friend's T1i does 1280x720 30 FPS just fine !

    Thanks !

    According to the specs, no.

You only need stop and start the recording immediately after, and the camera will start recording again. Rather than change a 4gb card thats mostly full, get a 16gb card to be safe.

    Yes, I have a 8GB card.

The problem is that unless the display contains periods of black sky for me to start a new file, I risk having the camera stop in the middle of an active segment.
