    C&C: Pseudo-macro with new 70-200mm f/4 IS

I've had a lot of yesterday and today to test my new 70-200 f4 L IS, and I thought I'd post a couple of pictures for critique. I haven't had any willing portrait subjects and so I focused my attention to some butterflies

    taken with EOS 7D.

EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM lens @ 189mm, f/5.6, 1/1600, ISO 400. Manual Exposure, Handheld. Editing in DPP.

Another shot of the same type:

EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM lens @ 200mm, f/7.1, 1/500, ISO 400. Manual Exposure, Handheld. Edited in DPP.

    Right before a collision:

EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM lens @ 192mm, f/5.6, 1/1600, ISO 400. Manual Exposure, Handheld. Edited in DPP.

    One More Butterfly:

And finally two Robins. The male tried to mate with the female but was promptly rejected.

    Have a nice day [H]

IOW at MFD to get MM, which does make the 70-200 f/4 IS a good flower and butterfly lens (on a crop body; with a larger sensor you need more MM, at least that's my impression after changing from a 500D to a 5D2, letting the 100mm macro bubble to the top of my "want" list).

    Ciao, Colin

    Very Nice Shots!

I like how the Male robin still has lunch in his mouth despite his current situation.

Like us, he's a guy and has no idea what he's doing or why it's important, just that he needs to do it!

These pics and your 4Ft distance is making me consider this lens even more Brendan!

I'll prob. be getting an extension tube to increase magnification.
