    Alien Bees and triggers

Quick question, Do Alien Bees work with your normal flash triggers or do you specifically have to purchase cybersyncs? I have been considering purchasing an AB800 for inhome studio stuff, but wasn't sure if I would have additional investments into the PCB franchise with having to purchase the triggers as well. Thanks for the assistance.

They'll work with any triggers. As long as you have a 1/8" miniphone cord, it'll work. My white lightnings have a 1/4" sync port, which means I have to use this adapter when using 1/8" cords. The neat thing about the adapter is that it will disable the optical slave cell when using the Cyber Commander and Cybersync CSRB+ receivers (it's necessary to disable the slave cell for optimal operation), so it serves two purposes--1) enabling the use of dumb triggers and 2) disabling the slave cell when syncing through the phone jack port.

Yeah, what he said. Pocket wizard has a video about using their triggers with the alien bee specifically.

Sure thing. This is the page to their AC9 product overview with the video on it.
