Anyone got Mozy or Carbonite?

I do back up to a WD1TB external, as well as DVDsthat I keep in a gun safe and have uploaded a lot of my family photos to Flickr. ...BUT, being the son and grandson of firefighters andhaving lost one home to a flood in 1979, I feel that as long as it's under one roof it's at risk. Ask anybody who has lost their house, to fire, flood etc.,what was the worst loss and they'll tell you the family photos (Well, in my case it was a stuffed elephant but that's not typical.) So, I tend to worry.

I've had Mozy for a little over a month. I'm about 70 gigabytes into a 170 gigabyte backup. My average upload speed is only a little over 300kbps per second. Seems like an ideal way to store photos (120gbs for me so far) and Music (50gb for me). I've got some video (30gb so far) but I'll back it up after the photos and musicare done.

Anyone had experience recovering files from an online backup? I know it's too late for me but are their any pros/cons of the services out there?

I couldn't agree more! ButI haven't used an online backup service, no. With my backup strategy, files less than two months old are stored in two separate locations, and files more than two months old are stored in 3 locations.

I have an external HDD that I keep at home and a second external HDD that I keep at work, and I routinely (twice/week at least) back up all my files, including photos/videos, to them. All of the pre-digital negatives/prints are also scanned and thus stored electronically. Every two months, I burn the photo/video libraries to DVD and those go in a bank safe deposit box.

Kim Komando is a HUGE fan of Carbonite. She writes for a lot of papers I guess and has a radio show. As full disclosure, they are a sponsor of hers also...and she shoots Nikon. No one is perfect. I think the prices were around $50/year for unlimited storage and is actually supossed to be easy to use. If I ever get the internet, I'm getting it! I also email pics I like to friends with Yahoo accounts(unlimited size accounts) who are pack-rats. If something ever happens, I get in touch with them. And it's free!
Words get in the way of what I meant to say.

Well I actually started to get Carbonite a while back because Kim Komando endorses it but let my free trial expire without uploading anything. Later after hearingSean Hannity <span data-ft="{"type":"name"}" class="UIIntentionalStory_Names"]advertising MozyI checked it out and figured I'd give it a shot. I only went with Mozythen because I had a promo code: HANNITY15 from Sean Hannitythat got us15% offa two-year MozyHome subscription. I hope I never get a chance to findhow the restore process works.
