Neuro, as much as I like your oriole images all of them were shot into the sun -- resulting in low contrast and a washed-out image overall (I think that's the best way to describe it). However I'm not sure what can be done about this. hmmm.....maybe shoot on a cloudy day???
Thanks for the comment, Brendan, yes - this was a cloudy day, but thin clouds, and it does look washed-out. Mostly a function of the position of the nest, which is not optimal (for me - but then, it's pretty well-hidden meaning it's better for the birds, right?) and the time of day, but I'll likely have some free time one morning later this week to get out there just after sunrise for some better light.
That time of year.....she's our third off to college now....two more to go.
Shot this guy on Monday. Birds werent doing much so I went for the bunnies!
Canon Rebel XS with Canon EF 300mm f/4L IS USM @ f/5.6, ISO 100, 1/100
San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary
Shallow DOF acheived by obvious merits of lens and lying down on my stomach. The camera and lens were about an inch off the ground. Not much more to say about the photo. Yeah bunnies!
Wish he was doing something more active though. I like the photo but it's actually quite uninteresting from an action stance.

this is really a nice shot! the DOF, bokeh, sharpness, color, light ... everything look great, not too much "action" though overall it's a nice picture.especially I like the low angle, you must got dirty didn't you?!
