Does this camera bag/backpack exist?

That will fit my 5d Mark II with vertical grip and either a 85mm f/1.2 or 24-70mm f/2.8 attached. I don't think it exists. I have been searching high and low. Does it exist?

Also must not be too bulky not cause strain. I have a shoulder bag that will fit all my gear but it's sure is heavy and has been giving me neck problems from the shear weight.

Have you looked at the Lowepro SlingShot 200 AW or 202 AW? They would most likely hold what you want. I think you may prefer the SlingShot 300 AW or 302 AW better for comfort, but it is larger.


I have the SlingShot 300 AW and it holds a gripped 5D II with a 70-200 2.8 IS attached. I personally like the SlingShot 300 AW better because I find it more comfortable with the full weight supporting waist belt. When adjusted properly the weight is carried as a waist belt instead of over one shoulder as the smaller SlingShots do. And the SlingShot 300 AW has a nice wide waist support area. I find that people either love or have the SlingShots. I happen to love mine. I think a fair amount of those who do not, especially those who hate the SlingShot 300 AW do not have them properly adjusted. I can wear mine full of gear treaking through a zoo with the family all day.


I have a number of Lowepro bags, but my SlingShot 300 AW is one of my favorites. When I packed to take a trip to Big Pocono State Park last week, it is the bag I took.

I have Slingshot 200 AW. I got it when I had lighter gear. I think I'm over slings and shoulder bags. I want a non-bulky backpack that will distribute the weight evenly.


Anyone know if there is a company out there that will make custom bags for you?

I use the Lowepro Fastpack 350 Backpack and it holds:


- 5D mark II mostly with 24-105 attached.


- 100mm macro 2.8


- Sigma's 50mm 1.4


- 430EXII flash


- MR-14EX Ringflash


- Flashgels/filters/rocketblower/batteries/raincoats/remotes/wireless flash set and other stuff like pens etc


It fits easily the way I divided the main space. You can divide it yourself in a lot of ways.


I could easily put a batterygrip on my 5D and it would still fit.


It also has a laptop-compartment which I don't use. (Sometimes I use it for magazines and books)


And in the top part there's plenty of room for other stuff which I mentioned.


It's not really really small, but the fastpack line is also available in smaller sizes.


It has a chest-belt and a waist-belt to spread the weight.


It's pretty much dustproof and It handled rain pretty well. I think it's waterproof, but I'm not certain on that part.

I bought a KATA today and returned it. Just ordered a Fastpack 250.

I have a fastpack 250 and I fit a 40D Efs 55-250, Efs 10-22, Ef 28-135, in the bag with still room for external flashes. I don't have a battery grip on the camera but there is still lots of vertical roomabove my 40D. I even keep my Ef-50 ii in the top part not to mentioon a 15 inch laptop in the sleeve. It carries pretty evenly. I once jammed my 17 inch laptop in the sleeve but it was a realpain to get back out. Anyways it should work for you.

I have no clue how it is compared to the 350 I have, but I'm pretty sure your stuff will fit.


I also didn't mention that I also put a tripod in the mesh side-thing(probably to put a bottle of water or something in) and strap it to the bag. In other words, the Fastpack 350 carries all my photography gear for me [] The 250 is probably just a bit smaller, but will do fine for your needs I think.

I bought a Velocity 8X (tamrac) and a Ladies Backpacking Belt from REI,... cut the lame 1 inch belt off the Velocity, and carefully stuffed the much more adequate hip belt through the factory pouch on the back. This lets me put the load on the hips.


I carry the 5dm2 with a 300mm f/4 AND 16-35 f/2.8, a 1.4 extender, spare battery etc. I have cycled over 30 miles several times with the config, and once on my feet she continues to serve my needs. With the grip you won't have as much room for other big lenses but the 24-70 should fit.

So, you're looking for a bag to carry only the gripped 5DII and 85/1.2 or 24-70/2.8? A gripped body and 85/1.2 will fit perfectly into a Lowepro Toploader 65 AW. Since the 24-70/2.8 is the same length as the 100mm L macro, and the latter is a very tight fit in the 65 AW, that would probably work for you, too. But to be safe, theLowepro Toploader 70 AW will definitely fit either lens.


I don't think you'll find a backpack just for that camera/lens combo. The Toploaders can be worn over the shoulder (sounds like you don't want that). But if you want to distribute the weight, you can carry it on aTopload Chest Harness.
