Epson Stylus Photo R3000 prints dark - always have to increase brightness

Any other R3000 owners experience this?

I've got a Canon 50D and the pics look fine on the camera and fine on the screen before any processing is applied. But if I print without brightening, the prints come out much darker. Other than that, the printer produces great prints. I understand that the pre-print viewings are from back-lit devices, but it seems to me that I shouldn't have to pre-brighten just to print a pic taken with default settings.

I print mostly RAW or JPEG directly from DPP to Epson Ultra Premium glossy paper and have my paper settings to reflect that (including 11 mil thickness).

I have also tried printing from Windows Live Photo Gallery, but get the same results.

    Any input appreciated.

    Solved

I tried using the Epson Glossy paper profile, but that looked aweful.

I was able to resolve this by increasing the brightness value of the epson standard (sRGB) color adjustment mode I've been using. Still haven't settled on a value yet, but somewhere between +8 and +10 works well.
