    Arca-Swiss Z1 Decision

Hey all, I am pretty set that the Z1 is the ballhead for me, though I have one issue that is still left undecided. I am unsure whether it is worth buying the Dual-Pan version of the head, or whether buying the single-pan version and potentially buying a leveling base later on. Is it worth shelling out the extra cash upfront to have a single do it all system? Or will a quality leveling base do the trick just as well.

So that this is relevant, I do stitched panos reasonably often.

    Thanks,
    Jordan

For Panos, there is nothing better than the Acratech GP head. It's built for gimbal and pano work. Check it out.

Yeah, I have looked at the Acratech heads as well.

I am somewhat uneducated on the Acratech heads, and have just heard so many good things about the Arca Swiss ones. On another note, I think thevoiceof the founder in his helpful videos is almost enough to scare me off. [:|]

    hahaha.

Anyways, I suggested the Acratech GP because unlike any Arca-Swiss head, it's built especially for panoramas and HDRs. It's a great everyday ballhead too, believe me. It's my personal favorite tripod head and I'd recommend it ahead of just about anything. But for you, it makes more sense than anything.

    good luck!

I have the dual pan Arca-Swiss and a leveling Gitzo tripod - you could say that is angle-potential overkill, but I find the dual pan head very useful indeed. It's rock-solid too when locked. Possibly my best camera-related purchase and one I would not give up.
