I own the 70-200 f/2.8 IS and the 17-55 f/2.8 IS, and found myself wishing I had an even wider aperture when I was shooting my last wedding. To that end I purchased a 50mm f/1.4 for my main body and a 35mm f/2 for my second. Receptions are notoriously dark, and the widest aperture you can get will likely help.

To be fair, I myself have done many weddings with that lens without a problem, and also has my mate who makes a living from it - hence one of the reasons I got the 24-105. Also, the 24-70 (for example) just isn't long enough.Each to their own though!
