Filing and Storing Original MOV Videos

As I shoot and store more and more videos, I'm eating disc space like crazy. Many of these videos are monsters when they come off the camera and a simple churn through video editing reduces them considerably. What do you all do with your video files? Do you store the originals? Can any of the video savvy members tell me if I'm going to ever need to get back to an original MOV, or can I sample it down to something else to save space?
