    ISO and Sensor

I know that ISO is sensitivity to light. What does the change in ISO technically do to the sensor (or other parts of a camera)? Does the change in ISO change the rate at which electricity is stored and discharged in the capacitors in the sensor (and therefore change the sensitivity of the sensor to light)?
