The big thing with the 100-500mm is that it's got prime-like sharpness on a 5X zoom. Whether the extra versatility is with the asking price is what you need to figure out... The big down side is the lack of prime-like apertures over the whole focal length. Can't win 'em all.

Yep .... in good light though it works great, is easy to carry and very versatile.
