    August 2026 Solar Eclipse

Kayaker and I went back and forth on where. I think he has decided on Iceland and I am headi g to Spain.

High risk perhaps as the the eclipse will be very close to the horizon and tbe North if Spain is somewhat mountainous.

My idea is to get elevated, hopefully near the coast, etc etc. My partner (Gail) and I will be arriving several days early to scout and renting a qhole house airbnb....

I offer this up if anyone would like to join us.

    Getting things organized.

I did kick around Iceland. But I've booked a house in Majorca/Mallorca with family (two sisters and husbands). Sunset eclipse or bust!! I figure high risk and high reward. Some of the locals have figured out that something is going on. A house I was looking at for $8K for the week jumped to $43k. The first choice hotels I was looking at are now booked. The second choice hotels are still available.

I ended up with a house under totality, but I will have to drive 10 min to get a good vantage spot. It was a second choice location as the first choice (cliffs along the northwestern coast) were booked or getting waaaay too expensive. So I ended up on the southern part, but access to unobstructed views of the eclipse assuming clear skies.

As for sunset eclipse, it will be ~2-3 degrees above the horizon in Majorca.

Also, for those of you scouting, Photo Ephermeris is a great tool.

Wish I could join. I loved northern Spain when my wife and I visited in 2010. People there were friendly and coast was beautiful. View from our hotel back then
