I don't normally shoot nature pics, but this was just outside my front door so I couldn't resist.

Autumn colours are back again over here in Ireland, my favourite time of the year for wildlife photography. 400D + 300 F4L. 1/800 f5

The background is pretty "busy" and therefore distracting. With that said, colors are great and the bird is tack sharp.

I do not find the background too busy or distracting. Birds do live in trees, however, I would use a vignette to help bring the eye to the bird. Just my 2 cents for what it is worth.

Here is the same bird. Taken with a XTI, Minolta 600mm f/6.3 (manual lens), ISO 1600, f/6.3, 1/800.

Really nice. I like it a lot. Would be great if the birds always cooperated like this one. I like a good uncluttered and/or blurred background as much as any photographer but it is not the 'be all and end all' of good photography. There are several newbies on this forum and they should not walk away thinking that all shots have to be uncluttered and blurred. I posted a photo just for critique to show this. It was a cluttered background that drew criticism of being a messy composition. I agreed with that criticism but it is my most asked for composition because of the history around it. And we all know the customer is always right. Bridal Portrait It seems the original photo is no longer available on the thread but you can see it in Madison's reply after he made some adjustments to it.
