I agree. Real quality. And doesn't cost a fortune.

I rely on AF as much as possible as my eyesight is quite poor. I do have the Canon Anglefinder C to aid MF when my subject allows the time to set up. I try to avoid flash as I prefer natural light, but if I have to I stick my 430EX on an off-shoe cable. I'm still on a learning curve with macro photography but find it an incredibly rewarding area. If I'm stuck at home due to bad weather I can spend hours taking the backs off old watches and photographing their insides!

Thanks. I got a lttle closer today, but had to use ISO 1600 and larger aperture. But I think the cloudy conditions washed out the color a bit:

When you said 10 feet away, you meant from the cat right? If so, how far were you from the bee on the first picture in this thread?

    Probably more than one foot

Wow, those are some nice shots of the bee! I really wish I could get my lens focused on one, but considering I'm quite allergic to them. I'm going to have to fit my extension tubes on my 100-400 and see what I can do. Again, great shots!

Thanks! Here are some from today. I'm trying to get closer, but the autofocus is reeeeeeal sensitive at 1:1, and these puppies move too fast for manual (for me at this point, anyway):

Love the last bee too! Maybe a little more depth of field would be nice, but it's a great shot. Makes me identify with the insect!
