Point & Shoot Camera Suggestions
Does anyone have any suggestions for a quality P&S?
It needs to be compact (easily fit in a pocket)
Of course, quality pics are important.
Battery life is a consideration as is quick start up.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Braden

I was always very pleased with the results from my Canon PowerShot SD960 IS.

Re: Point & Shoot Camera Suggestions
I just bought my girlfriend the Canon Powershot SX200 IS and it is excellent for a P & S. The S90 also looks like agreatcamera but the extra zoom on the SX200 IS was beneficial for her so we went with that. Excellent for the price.

Re: Point & Shoot Camera Suggestions
I have two friends who have the S90, and they are really pleased. I particularly like the ring that can be customised to rapidly adjusting everything from ISO-value to over/under-exposure. The censor is also very good, with little noise at high ISO. My friend took some pictures in the catacombes in Paris, and they were really of high quality. The fact that you can get a under-water case to it just adds up. Highly recommended.

Re: Point & Shoot Camera Suggestions
My current P&S is the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3, which I got after not being happy with the PowerShot G7 (in particular low-light performance; the LX3 has a maximum aperture of f/2.0), and I like(d) it a lot, until I got my first DSLR.
At this time the PowerShot S90 might be a better choice, it's not as old, and seems to be Canon's direct response to the LX3, but I don't know whether it's got features like "auto iso up to xxx"...

I second that ~ the LX3 is awesome.
Also look at the TZ and FZ series zooms from Panasonic. The TZ7 especially. It's a compact with 16x zoom, HD video, and a Leica lens with 25-300mm equivalent. From my experience the IQ from these lenses are great.

Re: Point & Shoot Camera Suggestions
I got my self the S90, although not the smallest camera out there, IMHO is really a great camera. The one thing about point and shoot that I'm allays concern is taking pictures in low light, and this one's performance is outstanding to me.
Also shoots raw and the function ring that helps a lot on manual modes.

Re: Point & Shoot Camera Suggestions
Get the LX3 if your are on tight budget. But if you're willing to spend, get the Leica DLux 4 ( re-badged LX3 ). The LX3 & DLux4 looks & performs exactly the same. The only difference is that the Leica's JPEG processing algorithm gives more natural rendition of colors compared to that of the LX3's. And another thing is the bundled software that comes with both of them.....definitely pocket-able too!
