    Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all Moms and everyone.

Female Avocets protecting her kids. Notice the extra sets of legs under her wings, she's keeping her other chicks hidden always from the crows and thethird one is trying to stay as close as possible to her. The chicks are only a day old.

Beautiful. I don't know if it's the way you process or attention to direction of light or what, but your pics always have a look- not just composition, but sharpness and color- I find very appealing.

My first impulse was that it needed to be cropped a little more. But upon further "reflection", I think it's just right the way it is.

I'll be in Irvine today for Mothers Day... wish I could head out to the wildlife sanctuary.

That was my first impulse too, because I wanted to make the chick larger, but then it would cut off half of the reflection. If there's no reflection I'd definitely crop much tighter.

I always shoot with the light behind me, and on that day I had beautiful light!
