I put my external USB hard drives on my TimeMachine, formatted AFS. I run a small free Apple app on my remaining Windows PCs so I can connect to the TimeMachine.
I formatted my portable drives as AFS, as I only use them on my Macs now.
If I have to move files back and forth, I use the networked TimeMachine, or I just use 1-8GB memory cards. I have lots of them, and I rarely have to move that much data to move that I'd exceed the capacity of a few cards.
We're a Canon/Profoto family: five cameras, sixteen lenses, fifteen Profoto lights, too many modifiers.
