Since it's in Toronto I'm guessing it's kilometers. 40mph on a bike would be FAST!!!

If you say so [] I live on the other side of the world so I don't have a clue. I would have guessed MPH because it'so close to the US, but apparently Canadians are smarter than that []

Downhills I get 40MPH (+/- 60km/h) on my mountainbike by pedaling my legs off due to the massive road-resistance of those big tires, but yeah on a flat road it would be only achievable by the professionals (not on my mountainbike with those wheels[:P]I would love to see one try though..)or with a very strong back-wind.

    Anyway cool shot [H]

    Could be...

I don't know how big of a sport it is in Canada, but here in Europe, cycle racing is serious sport. Think about Tour de France, Giro d'Italia etc etc. Season has started with the Giro now and I believe after the WK Soccer in South Africa, the sports-channels tune in for Tour de France. And yes 40MPH is something they easily achieve in sprint on flat grounds. Pretty cool until you see them crashing [A]

Eh ! Maybe it was a downhill shot and the picture got straightened. Whoops I said Eh. But then again I'm Canadian Eh!!! Good pic. Ontario license plate gave it away.

No doubt. In a straight line on flat ground, very tough. I used to race cycles in college, and the fastest I've been, with the benefit of a 9.1% grade, was 60 MPH. If you ever get the chance to do that on a bicycle, try it. It is quite exhilarating, especially with clip-ons! Nothing like knowing that, if it all goes pear-shaped, you better hope you can break your fall with your hands, because you won't be able to get your feet free. Now days, they have quick-release clip-less pedals, but those are for pansies. []

Thanks [:#]I never fell down with normal pedals, but since I use the "quick release" system I figured out it isn't that quick when you need it to [:P] The only times I ever fell down and hurt myself (while mountainbiking) were those where I couldn't get out of my "quick release" fast enough haha[]

Crap...my mountainbike starts to shake like crazy when I approach the 65 km/h. Also from about a 10% grade and pedaling like crazy [] So nowhere near your 60 mph, but I don't think I'd want that on my bike [H]

It would be fun to see how fast I can go anyway. I'll let you know as soon as I get my bike fixed.

Well I then I guess I fit in that catogory! Although I don't have clips so what those that make me? I know, a weakling! He he.

I do wonder if how much faster I can go with clips, mabye I should get some.
