Problem with master/slave functions on 580 and 430 Flash

I just purchased a 430 EX2 to use as slave to my 580ex2.


Followed the instructions (I think), 580 shows the Master, channels are A and 1, the 480 shows slave with matching channel yet it will not flash when the 580 does.


The 480 does work when tested or when on the D50


Any idea as to what I might be missing?

Double check your master settings onthe 580


Make sure it is not set to OFF. It can still show master, A, 1 and be off.


Remember there has to be a line of site between the two.


If all else fails go into the D50 flash setting and make sure things are set correctly.


I can go into more detail if this does not work.


I assume you have the 580 on camera and the 430 off camera.


I dont think the 430 can be a master.
