Please Help with Digital Camcorder Choice
Our 8mm just went out, and we need a NON HDnew camera for $250 or less. My wife really wants to have good zoom capability. Any suggestios?
Thanks!

Re: Please Help with Digital Camcorder Choice
I had a Sony SR200 for quite sometime. I doubt if it's still around, but Sony camcorders do have a reputation of being reliable. Most of the camcorders offer great zooms (always 10x or more), it's easy to get something with a big zoom.
The only concern I have is that you may want to choose a camcorder which has an internal harddrive and produce MP4 (or similar) files straight out. You may want to avoid those DVD or cassette camcorders. Another thing is that you may want to choose a camcorder with 1/3' or bigger sensors, those big (camcorder wise) sensor camcorder will have way better low light video quality and the image looks cleaner.A camcorder withlens opens to f1.8 at wideend should be easy to find too.
