Yes, but that's USD -- the post was about British Pounds. If you live in the UK and order the camera online from in the USA, you have to pay all the same VAT (like salestax) that you would have if you bought it locally, and I've heard that you lose the warranty benefits (like buying "gray market").
I know some UK folks who will fly all the way to New York just so they can get the cheaper price and sneak out of paying the taxes. (Just as many Americans illegaly evade taxes by not sending in a payment every month for all their online purchases.)
