Thoughts on 3rd party lens

I am looking at the Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di II LD IF Lens which is roughly 400 and change after the current rebate.


Anyone have any experience with them?

I have that lens and I love it. Fast, sharp, and inexpensive. The main annoyance I have is the loud BZZZT noise that the autofocus motor emits. Focuses very fast and accurately, though. Build quality is great, but it doesn't have full-time manual autofocus.

How about Sigmas?

I like them, but I don't have any personal experience with their new 17-50 f/2.8.

Any suggestions on what would be a decent lens for indoor - ringside - low light - fast action.

Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 is just what the doctor ordered.
