    Yes that's right. It means a shallow DOF.


    But it doesn't mean that you need to shoot wide open per se. If you've seen the hummingbird photo Bob submitted you might have seen that it was shot at f8 or f11, but still had a significant background/foreground difference and it played very well with DOF.


    This way Emilio eliminated the fact that you needed a very fast lens per se and everyone can join now.

    Emilio, I already made my submission, but I would like to change it, as I prefer the picture in BW vs color. Is it possible to cancel and replace the picture?

    Yes you can Gian. Just edit your original post and remove the original photo and import a new one. Or you could make a new reply with the new photo, say that it
