I use a pair of the convertible mittens, REI brand. They work quite well in moderately cold conditions (down to about 15 °F or so). If it's colder than that, I have a pair of thin gloves designed for ultra-cold material handling (sourced from a scientific supplier, intended for laboratory use) - they keep my hands/fingers warmer, although there's an occasional incorrect button press.
