Just to be clear, if you're using a longer, fast lens wide open with a relatively close subject (where DoF is very thin), focus-recompose is not a good idea - you'll usually miss focus on your subject.

Thanks for clarifying though - I was 14 hours into a 16 hour night shift so things don't always come out the way they're supposed after that.
