Re: Post your best bird shots!

Hey Joel, you posted some birds I actually recognise from the UK for a change.

I've not posted in this thread for a while, mostly because we've had a bad winter over here and I haven't seen many interesting birds lately. However, I still have some shots from my polar adventures that I haven't shared yet, so here are some birds of the Southern Ocean:

    Antarctic Petrel, 5D Mark II, EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM @ 400mm, f/7.1, 1/500s, ISO 100

    Light Mantled Sooty Albatross, 5D Mark II, EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM @ 400mm, f/8, 1/500s, ISO 100

    Kelp Gull, 5D Mark II, EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM @ 400mm, f/8, 1/1600s, ISO 100

The first two were taken from the moving deck of a ship during a typically rough crossing of the Drake Passage.

    Drake Passage, EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM @ 28mm, f/8, 1/80s, ISO 100

Nice pics Andy, the first two appear as though they are going to fly out of my monitor.

Really nice shots this week guys!! Quite the catch on your last one, Joel! Fantastic!

I am taking the day off work tomorrow to go eagle scouting since the sun is suppose to be shining for one brief day and I am starting to feel better!

Wish me luck! I am not sure how long they hang around this area in Wisconsin so I hope they are still there!

JJ, That set looks really good and sharp. I like the way the sun plays on the bottom one.
