It looks like spring has finally arrived here as well. It's been a long wait. I took a trip to Aberdeen harbour to experiment with my TS-E 24mmf/3.5L II this afternoon. Let's face it, every shot with this lens is an experiment. It's a big learning curve.

Nice photos, Andy! How are you liking your new TS-E? I just got the TS-E 90mm and I love experimenting with it ...tons of fun!! I hope someday to get the 24mm II but it will be a long time from now!

I've noticed some of the shots you posted, Denise, and I'm delighted that you are enjoying yours. It inspired me to get some fresh air on Sunday and try a few outdoor shots with mine (I got my TS-E in December and the weather has not provided many outdoor photo opportunities until now). I really enjoy using it when I have plenty of time available, but I'm not yet sufficiently expert that I know how much tilt is required to get the focal plane exactly where I want it, with the desired depth of field. It's not a lens I'll use when I'm in a hurry.
The metering also takes a bit of getting used to. There doesn't seem to be a way of calculating how much exposure compensation is required for a given set-up, so the only option is to take lots of shots.
It's interesting using the lens in public. Lots of people looked at me quizically as I kept moving my tripod by a few centimetres and adjusting the lens to get the framing of the roundhouse just right, while they took grainy, shaky pictures with their hand held camera phones. It wasn't easy, any further back and I would have been on the wet side of the harbour wall, any further left and there was a lamp post in the way.
