Re: Focus Stacking for Macro CS5
Alan
Thanks for the help, that was exactly what I was doing wrong. I knew it would be something simple I couldn't figure out.
Here are the results for my first try:
Shot with the 5D II, 180mm Macro L off a tripod using the 24ex at 1/64th on both
Shot in the evening in the house, very little ambient light mostly flash, 13 pictures combined F9, shutter .8, ISO 400, Cropped maybe 10% off (very little)

]
5 Pictures combined, F5.6, 1 second, ISO 400, No Crop

]
I know they could use some improvement, but this is a good start
Thanks

Re: Focus Stacking for Macro CS5
Rick, those are great. You're too modest. That's more than a good start. It's a great start.
You used a water spray to get the "rain effect." I like it. I bring one with me, when I'm shooting flowers, too.
All of sudden, you're looking for things to shoot macro, I'll bet. [

Thanks, macro was the first thing I really got in to. Its been a long winter with nothing real interesting to shoot. I am glad spring is here, the flowers are coming out and there are plenty of insects.

These photos are truly beautiful! Very nice job, Rick! This seems way to hard for me to even attempt but I sure like the results when done correctly!

Denise
Thanks
It wasn't hard at all once I figured out which buttons to push. CS5 did all the work and once I figured out which sequence to go through it only took about 3 or 4 minutes.
Most of the time when I am out doing Macro I have always did multiple shots with different focus points. I just made a lot of work for myself because I have two years worth of Macro to go back through and see if I have any candidates for this. Thats why we shoot in RAW so we can go back I guess.

Re: Focus Stacking for Macro CS5
Photoshop does a very poor job at focus stacking compared to almost any other alternative. CombineZ, which is a free program, gives much better results. There
