I hazard to post any bird shot right after Joel, but here goes nothing!
From today's trip to the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo, Wisconsin (a nice family detour from the miles of waterparks and chain restaurants). Thanks, Denise, for reminding me of this place in a recent post of yours!
The sanctuary/preserve has all 15 varieties of cranes, but most are hard to photograph because of the fencing. The highly endangered Whooping Crane, however, is in a man-made yet beautiful and "natural" environment that is excellent for photography. The shadows were a little stripy from the mid-day sun, but still it was great fun. These two shots are of the female. The male hung out in the back preening the whole time.
All with 7D and EF 70-300 L.
Pretty menacing for a crane, no?
