Using my EOS60D and a EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens I shot the following pic

Nice work. Img_2369s is my favorite. Taking off the camera strap is a good idea -- I do that before starting most of my long tripod imaging sessions too. One thing that can help against the wind is a better tripod. Another option is to bring a few empty bags up to the viewpoint, then fill them with rocks and dirt after you setup and hang them from the tripod. The extra weight helps against wind vibration. My tripod (351MVB) also gets pretty low to the ground, so that helps against wind unless you need to be up higher for that particular composition. As you guessed, a faster lens wont help. Thanks Daniel. Nowadays, close to big cities, its almost impossible to avoid some aircraft trails in the sky when you shoot upwards.
