Well, today was a pretty windy day for macro shots but I wasn't about to wait until Monday to try out my new Sigma 70mm outside since it's suppose to rain all weekend, so here are a few photos I managed to get from it so far ...wind or no wind! All were hand-held.

The Sigma appears to be doing a very good job and you caught some very nice shots.

I have to ask this out of curiosity. Why did you want the Sigma when you already have the 100mm F2.8L IS? It is a little shorter length, buy what are you trying to gain that the 100mm L wouldn't do?

Thanks, guys! Still more in the field testing to do but so far, I am VERY pleased with this lens!

The Canon 100mm F2.8L IS is an amazing macro lens and great portrait lens but sometimes the length on a crop body was less than "convenient". When my daughter and I were at the botanic gardens last month I became more aware of this. When I wanted to take a photo of her, I either had to back up quite a bit or switch lenses more often than I wanted to. I think the difference between 70mm and 100mm will be enough to help with this.

50mm seemed to wide on a crop for macro and after reading just about every review on the internet for all macro lenses out there, the sigma seemed to have the least amount of issues with the best color and sharpness. Every lens had a trade-off but this just seemed to have the least. Would I prefer for it to be 60mm, F2.? Maybe.

So far, the only real downside I have found with this lens is #1 the filter size and #2 you can
