Beautiful portfolio and Welcome to the Forums!

I love the Bay Bridge and Golden Gate shots. Beautiful exposures!

The only critique that I would suggest would be to watch the vertical lines in some of the buildings that are in the center of the frame. For example you could probably straighten the Clock tower in the "Fire Dancers" Shot, and the same goes for the Trans America Pyramid, and the Bathed in Light shot.

No need to straighten all of the buildings on the edges of the frame, however the buildings in the "center of the frame" will stand out more.

    I hope that helps,

Great shots Nate and welcome to the forum. The moonrise over the pyramid building - is the moon and illuminated clouds in a separate layer for it to show no movement? My favorites are the trolly car and first shot from the Marin Headlands.

Palace of Fine Art is my favourite, but I do think it could do with a little bit more negative space at the top of the shot.

Hi Nate. Great work, I'm impressed by these photos. They are well thought through and it seems that you have taken a very intelligent and systematic approach to getting such results. Even though I'm a fan of night photography, I've got no first hand experience, so I can't offer much by way of a critique other than maybe a little experimentation with 2nd curtain flash (almost impossible with a Canon) in some of your shots with people. This could have the effect of freezing them with some detail but still retaining the light trails and feeling of movement. My favorite is the Golden Gate Bridge, the colors are lush and velvety but at the same time monochromatic. Very nice work, I hope we get to see more!
