Wow! Nice shot, Jon! I will take a stab at it and go with a purple "mum"!?

Here are a couple more from me ...I've been a macro-holic lately!

Looks like the flower is crying. I also like how there is a purple color cast on the last one. Very nice shots!

Wow, great shots everyone! As for a guess on the purple flower with the (crab) spider (I believe), I was going to guess outside of the yard and it being a thistle???

Denise you are really getting into macro again. Those all with the new lens?

Here are a couple taken yesterday. This guy was hanging upsidedown between the boards of my fence. The lighting was horrible so I tried flashing, but it was more difficult to hold things straight. So I turned the camera upsidedown and mounted the flash and this is about as good as I could get before he flew off. Ugly dude!

First one was with a 100mm macro and a 1.4x TC. The last two are with the 300F4IS +1.4xtc and a 36mm tube with 580 exII

Yep, I figure I might as well take advantage of it while all the flowers & insects are around! Butterflies are just starting to frequent my gardens so more to come! And yes, these are all taken with my new Sigma. I put the Canon 100L on for a few shots this weekend and went right back to the sigma. I guess I've just grown to be more comfortable with it.

Thistle was a good guess. It is an artichoke, which looks like a thistle and might even be a kind of thistle for all I know

I really like your macro work, Denise, but that flower stands out. Beautiful composition.

Great shot of the monarch! Is that cropped or as is?
