The 60" umbrella was placed high enough that it blocked out the sun that she was facing (putting her in complete shadow, allowing me more control over the light). Another advantage of placing the modifier that high up was that it didn't show up in the glasses when she faced forward. If she were looking up at the umbrella, it would have been a different story.

Mark - This shot is wonderful! I am very impressed that it was taken with a 5d! I was at one point considering this camera since a 5d II was never in my price range. What lens did you use?

I don't do many weddings so this is rare for me. My strobe light fell over before this shot and bent up my 60 inch umbrella and my spill kill reflector. The umbrella kept my strobe from hitting hard which was good. My sand bag was not sitting on the stand very well where my little gremlin that follows me around did his thing. 5DII, 16-35II, ISO 100, AV 3.2, TV 1/100

It's a great shot nonetheless! The bride really stands out.

Chris congratulations with your first Explore, well deserved. I like it.

Mark, that's a nice portrait of your wife.

    Thanks Denise. I used my EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM @ 105

I love my 5D. I am more interested in glass than a camera upgrade for a while.
