I got the camera back from the service center a few weeks ago, so I guess I'm over due in following-up on this. Including standard shipping, the whole process didn't take longer than 10 days. Canon fixed the switch under warranty, so my putting a few scratches on a couple screw heads didn't cause any problems. The repair was fast and competent. So far the camera is operating as good as new. I do love this body. However, I can't say this micro switch failure isn't still in the back of my mind every time I get my flash out. I won't do a shoot without a good back-up body close at hand.
