Rich, unfortunately I can't benefit from the rebates as I live in Canada and they only apply to U.S. residents. The price jump is pretty significant and I'm also concerned with tacking on more weight with these heavier tripods. Glad to hear that the Wimberley plates are comparable in quality to the RRS. Seems like I may have just reached a decision thanks to everyone's help (especially from you). Many, many thanks!!
