Some of my friends from college always wondered why I ended up following the career path that I chose; i.e., starting out my research career as a student of neurophysiology and subsequently changing course to study the wonders of amphibian reproductive biology. No matter how much I have thought in the past that maybe I made the wrong decision, it is experiences like the one that I have captured in the image below (500 feet down in an old abandoned gold mine) that provide instant affirmation that I made the right choice (no offense Neuro).

ps. I took over 500 images in the mine shaft over the weekend, but I promised my colleague that the images would be used for my own personal enjoyment only (hence the huge watermark). I apologize, as I would love to share more!

Yea... I figured they were contacts, but I was more talking about how she did a good job making it look like the flesh around her eye was missing (tore out) and she had a great blank/dead stare. At first it just looked like pink make-up around the eye until you looked closer.

The rain stopped and I had time to go out and take shots of the beautiful fall colors but ...they were all gone Leaves are all on the ground and their beautiful color gone. Sadly, I missed photographing my favorite season!
At least, I still have photos from summer to work on so I practiced a few new techniques in CS5! Made my first brush (my logo) and set up some awesome one-step actions!

Steve it is hard to compete with your wildlife shots... but I'll use the excuse that there aren't many zombies in our neck of the woods (other than me, before I have my coffee).

We've had some nice snowfall lately, giving hope for an early start to the ski season. For me, it meant a good excuse to head out for a cruise. On the Bow Valley Parkway in Banff, I came across this friendly bull elk, who was kind enough to strike a pose.

I continued on to hike through Johnston's Canyon in the park. This place is normally jammed with people in the summertime, so I avoid it like the plague. Today, it was totally empty and about as pretty as can be.
