    street foto

    Hi !
    I need one street lens
    I think about one from 50mm f1.4 or 85mm f1.8
    Somebody can help me

    most like going wider i.e. 40 mm 2.8 would be common - crop sensor particularly so, might even go to the 35 mm.

    Having said this, both are very good, I have a hard time thinking 85mm for a street lens - long and then very long on a crop sensor.

    I agree, I have a fifty, but find its a little narrow on my crop body, 35 or 40 sounds better for street work (if you are using a crop body) 50 would be good for full frame.

    I found the focusing on the 35mm f/2 too slow for street. My 15-85mm's USM is far more reliable.

    50mm feels more like a portrait on APS-C, and 85mm is telephoto. I know a few street photographers who use 85mm, but I don't think I could do it, you have to look much further away than the people closest to you.

    You might want to consider the Sigma 30mm f/1.4.

    Anything under 50mm, I find 24mm on 1.6 a very nice focal length for street work. Ultra wides work well also.
