I like the doors, Nick. Almost feels like two different images combined.

This is a shot from my trip to Bryson City, NC. Was there for a job interview and didn't take a tripod.... grrr. So this was sitting on a rock.

    Dave,
I hope the interview went well.
Gorillapod for the next trip? But this shoot looks like you don't need a tripod!

Why grrr? One big argument for getting a high quality (=expensive) tripod is for 'rock-solid' support. Wouldn't an actual rock be even more stable?

    Nice shot, btw...

Snow came back last week here in Switzerland. I had not seen that much snow in the beginning of December for a long time. And we were lucky enough to have some sun on Saturday. Quite a wonderful afternoon. I think this picture turned out ok. Taken with my XSi/450D and the 15-85.

My exact thoughts. Snow is gorgeous to look at in someone else's pics.

Great image, Tounis. Well done. Looking forward to more snow I don't have to shovel.

    Tounis:
I like the shot. Snow really makes for a great subject. We do not have much here yet, but I hope we get more (just not all at once).

Snow is better than mud. I always like getting winter snow pictures. Without the snow we get nothing to shoot but a bunch of dead (dormant) trees and brown ground cover. Let it snow!!!

Thanks a lot for all the kind comments.
While I agree with you that shoveling snow is not the funniest thing to do, I'm glad the snow came that early in the ski season. Most of the people here are earning their money from tourism (not me though),and having so much snow before Christmas is definitely a blessing. I understand that in many places, snow can be a nuisance, but we really need it here. We even call it "white gold". Not to mention that the first day after the snowfall always has a magical feeling.
