Don't worry, they won't release it on Tuesday.

They'll wait until just after your return window at B&H expires...

But really, I agree with Rick - a 7DII will hold little appeal. Like Lt. Scotty said, "You canna' change the laws of physics." The FF sensor is going to deliver better IQ, period.

Congratulations Brant! I told my wife that if yours is angry it may be partly her fault!

Thanks, your reassurances are much appreciated.

Buying the 5DIII is exciting, but feels a little odd too. It is a complete deviation from the plan I had, which was essentially to keep the 7D for another year or two and add lenses, tripods and maybe another filter or two this year. I have been really happy with the 7D, my "kit" and leaving APS-C is resulting in a near complete upheaval. But, in a few posts here on TDP, it was pointed out that the best way to improve my kit, particularly where I wanted to improve it (low light, noise, etc), may not be adding glass, but going FF. So, it is coming in.

Ha....set your calendars then, March 5th. Actually, what will really hurt is if the update of the 100-400L is released. I just used the funds I had set aside for it to buy the 5DIII. Oh well, you can only buy what is available.

That is exactly what I am counting on...and really, who am I to argue with Scotty?

..thanks, I missed this post while writing mine....keep up with the angry angle for now...but if the 5DIII performs as expected, my happiness will also be partly her "fault." But there is no reason to tell her that just yet.....

Don't worry too much about maybe missing out on the new 100-400mm. The larger pixels on your new FF sensor will make the old lens seem sharper.

Actually it will look sharper but will have less reach, just in case you were serious.

    Congratulations Brant.

The 5D III should work good from your kayak, and you have time to figure it all out before the water turns liquid again... have fun
