Thank you everyone. This is a very beautiful area and it is hard to make it look bad. Not as easy to get to in the winter, but worth the effort.

The second one was my favorite of the day as well.

Mark and Steph:
The exposure was:

1.3 sec, f/16, 100 ISO @ 24 mm (this was a +2/3 EV exposure bias using Matrix metering... used +2/3 because of all the white snow throwing it off a bit).

I used a CPL and an ND filter with a 7D and 24-105mm f/4L lens.

Wow Pat, those are superb waterfall shots. Very impressive to have the flowing water, but not blow out the snow.

Jonathan, that ram is intimidating. Beautiful composition and capture!

Denise:

I find it very difficult to get a good shot of a red rose (especially with flash) without getting some weird reflected light anomaly because of the almost iridescent nature of the inside surface of the red rose peddles (it really wrecks the color in spots). Yours looks great, and I do not think it is that easy to get a good even color like that. Have you found that to be a problem, or is it just me.

I do know what you mean, Pat. Red roses are difficult to photograph. The one above wasn't too bad right out of camera but most require alot of slider manipulation in ACR to get it just right. Usually, I'm moving the sliders in opposite directions from what I normally do, like for contrast, etc. IMO though, the reds in the one of above are too bright for my liking. I should have toned them down a tad or something, they still don't look natural to me.

If all else fails ...turn red into pink!

Yes it is a little bright, but at least you do not have those weird dingy spots from the flash. I never thought about going pink (I usually just find a pink one ).
