I found the shots I was thinking of that illustrate this nicely: Click through to Flickr to see the blurry grass, uh, less clearly.

With the new 'intuitive' Flickr interface, to see the full size images, click on the "..." to the right, and choose "Download/All Sizes", and then pick 'original'. You used to be able to do this by right clicking on an image, but I guess that was too hard.

I see my post processing has improved since 2011.
