New stuff can be fun, but the old and sometimes unused stuff in your closet can take some really nice photographs as well. Light is #1, composition/subject is #2, and lens or camera is #3 or #4.
The only lens I've bought recently is the 50 f/1.8 II and for it being so inexpensive it really does take outstanding images.
For those of you who are upgrading: enjoy!
For those who are not, take some of the unspent cash and go somewhere interesting... watch some videos or read books on post processing techniques... make more effort to go out near sunrise and sunset.

Very true. I've been playing around with my Light Blaster after a long hiatus. It's been extremely fun, and inexpensive (as I already had everything at my disposal). This shot was taken in my [very cluttered] bedroom. I'm actually sitting on the bed and looking through my collection of transparent slides.

I....don't....understand.....
I didn't fully expect it, but 2013/2014 turned into a bit of a year of upheaval for my kit. But I can feel it settling down. I am still working out the extreme telephoto side (BIF, etc) as I think I want something beyond 400 mm on FF.
So, my next purchases are:
- "Super" telephoto (undecided on which one)..................
I am wanting to sell my 500mm f/4L Version I in order to upgrade to the 600mm f/4L Version II
It would be cheaper to get a crop body + a less-super tele, assuming you can live with the extra noise, than to try do BIF on a full-frame. Save some weight, save some money, and find new perspectives with the glass you already own.
